Curses

I hardly ever swear. If I drop something, I say "oh, sugar." If someone cuts me off in traffic, I call the bad driver an idiot or a turkey.

However, I do say bad words when I sing along to my CD's. Here are a few of my favorite songs with swear words:

Precious by Pretenders
Pretenders (Musical group). Pretenders. New York, NY: Sire Records, 1980.

Lawyers Guns and Money by Warren Zevon

Zevon, Warren. Excitable Boy. New York, NY: Elektra/Asylum, 1978.

You sexy ________ by Prince

Prince. [Love Symbol]. Burbank, CA: Paisley Park, 1992.

Jet Airliner by Steve Miller Band

Steve Miller Band, and Steve Miller. Book of Dreams. Hollywood, CA: Capitol, 1977.

_____ Camaro by The Dead Milkmen

Dead Milkmen (Musical group). Big Lizard in My Backyard. El Segundo, Calif: Restless, 1985.

Prince

Prince: Rave Un2 the Year 2000. Chatsworth, CA: Eagle Vision/Image Entertainment, 2000.

I watched this video while ironing my husband's shirts yesterday. It's a taping of Prince's 1999/2000 New Year's concert. The line-up includes Lenny Kravitz, The Time, members of Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, and more. Good stuff.
ps. Did I mention that Cracker's new album Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey is in stores today? Buy it, you'll like it.

Nothing Compares 2 U

Even though I don't agree with her politics, I think Sinéad O'Connor is an incredible singer and songwriter. I get goose bumps whenever I listen her 1990 album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got. Her biggest hit, Nothing Compares 2 U, was written by Prince and originally recorded by The Family.

ps. Due to unpopular demand, I deleted my lame attempt at singing Nothing Compares 2 U. The Star Spangled Banner is a walk in the park compared to that song.
