Michelle Obama is looking especially beautiful today, of course.
Her dress/coat combination is very elegant, and it has just the right amount of sparkle. I especially like the interesting texture and the detailed neckline.
The olive green leather gloves are a great accent. I think it would have looked a bit too precious if she'd gone with white or a pastel color to match her dress. I can't wait to see what she wears to the ball!

I just discovered a wonderful blog called Mrs. O. It's a photo journal of who and what Michelle Obama is wearing. Here are three of my favorite outfits:
She looks amazing in this purple sheath.
She wore this taupe number to an LGBT luncheon.
I love this elegant neckline.
Want to try these great looks for yourself? Believe it or not, most of her clothes are pretty affordable. Like us mere mortals, she shops at J. Crew and H&M!
ps. To be honest, these days I limit myself to Target. Thank goodness for Isaac Mizrahi!
I get a lot of wear out of this scalloped skirt that I bought on sale for only $5:
Do you remember the first time you ever voted in a presidential election? My first time was for Walter Mondalein the 1984 election. (He lost to Reagan.) It was so exciting to finally be grown up enough to vote. I even hosted a small debate-watch party in my dorm room. And speaking of debates . . .
The first debate of the Obama election takes place this Friday at Ole Miss. Here's a poignant article about the choice of locale: npr.org.
