The Tolkien/John Paul Jones Connection

Today is the late J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday.

Bloom, Harold. J.R.R. Tolkien. Modern critical views. Philadelphia: Chelsea House Publishers, 2000.

If it weren't for the Led Zeppelin song, Ramble On, I probably never would have read Tolkien's masterpiece, The Hobbit.

Tolkien, J. R. R. The Hobbit, or, There and Back Again. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1966.

I don't usually go for fantasy books, but I read The Hobbit in order to learn more about Gollum and the depths of Mordor.

And speaking of Zeppelin, it's also John Paul Jones's birthday! (He's still alive, I think.)
